Anti-virus support, the need for making a career field

This presentation will show why the AV industry must make some changes to continue growth and acceptance of anti-malware research as a legitimate career path.

Medical doctors and automobile mechanics will be used as examples of two careers that had to mature. The medical doctor will be used to show a successful maturity while the auto mechanic can show a stagnant growth.

Also addressed will be some of the initiatives that have undertaken in the anti-malware p rofession in the past five years, encouraging all levels to become involved with the effort to grow our career field. The unified Code of Conduct/ Ethics, the AVIEN/ AVAR/ EICAR Certification project and the lack of a standards body within the industry will be covered.
